Description of Office

From the National Constitution:
6.211 The Historian shall be responsible for maintaining a written and pictorial record of the activities of the chapter and band.

From the Gamma Pi Bylaws:
5.02.07 The duties of the Historian shall be in accordance with the National Constitution. The Historian shall also be responsible for maintaining the files of history of the Chapter.

Common Activities

Chapter Member Information Sheets
Chapter Info Sheets and helpful to keep an on-going history of the brothers in the organization. Each sheet records each brother's information and positions for each semester. These sheets are typically passed out and around in a normal business meeting each semester where each brother can fill out their information. The Historian should keep these sheets in a binder.

Bowl Trip Gift
If Purdue Football takes the Purdue All-American Marching Band on a bowl trip over the winter break, the Historian should find out if the opposing school has a chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. If so, the Historian is responsible for creating or purchasing a gift to give to the chapter. This is usually the first duty of the spring semester Historian.

The typical gift is usually a paddle. Paddles can be purchased at University Spirit in the Chauncey Hill Mall. The paddle can include each chapter's name, the bowl game logo, a nice message, signatures, the date, or anything else.

Composites
In the fall semester, Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma take turns organizing the composites. If the Historian of Kappa Kappa Psi is organizing, planning should start at the end of the Spring semester and no later than a few weeks before school starts. Try to organize them very early in the semester and for a full day to allow people to take their pictures. 2007 is a Kappa Kappa Psi composite year.
