Using the ListServ
Attention: We Have New Listserv
Gamma Pi now has a new listserv system. As time progresses, the old system will no longer be used. If you have questions about the old system, please contact the Computer Guru. After the Fall 2008 semester, the old listserv will not be monitored or updated. It should still work, but some "tags" may contain incorrect email addresses. To use the new system, please read the helpful informaiton below.
New Listserv Information
To send an email out across the listserv, first determine who you need to send your email to. The new system uses individual email addresses. Simply type the email address into the "To" field. There is no need to place "tags" in the subject line using the new system. These email addresses can easily be added to an individual address book in your email client for easy access. All email addresses end in "@purduekkpsi.org".
The following is a list of email addresses and who each email address will send to:
- active@purduekkpsi.org - Active Brothers
- conditional@purduekkpsi.org - Conditional Brothers
- chapter@purduekkpsi.org - Active and Conditional Brothers, but not the BiTs
- alumni@purduekkpsi.org - Alumni Brothers (Note: Alumni only includes those in good standing.)
- advisors@purduekkpsi.org - Chapter Advisors including Chapter Sponsor
- bits@purduekkpsi.org- Brothers-In-Training that are in the current membership class.
- kky@purduekkpsi.org - Includes all Active, Conditional, Alumni, and Advisors. Basically everyone except BITs.
- activities@purduekkpsi.org - Activities Committee and any brothers & alumni who request the emails
- chapterserv@purduekkpsi.org - Chapter Services Committee and any brothers & alumni who request the emails
- exec@purduekkpsi.org - Executive Committee - just the officers of Gamma Pi
- finances@purduekkpsi.org - Finances Committee and any brothers & alumni who request the emails
- membership@purduekkpsi.org - Membership Committee and any brothers & alumni who request the emails
- services@purduekkpsi.org - Service Committee and any brothers & alumni who request the emails
- humor@purduekkpsi.org - Optional for any brothers & alumni who wish to recieve general discussion & humorous emails
You can combine groups by adding multiple email addresses to the "To" field:
TO: chapter@purduekkpsi.org; bit@purduekkpsi.org
This example above will send your message to all Active & Conditional Brothers as well as all Brothers-In-Training.
Please note to avoid sending emails that may send multiple/repeat emails to the same user. For an example, do not send to active@purduekkpsi.org AND chapter@purduekkpsi.org. This will send all active brothers the same email twice.
Special Note: Currently, there is no "who" tag or similar way to check to see who is on each mailing list. In addition, all emails sent out will NOT send back emails confirming who you sent your message to. If you would like to check who is on each list, contact the Computer Guru. Thanks.
